Changing your Residents Address

Your residents address is an address that you reside 3 or more days of the week and for which you can obtain residential parking permits if you are included within a controlled parking zone. Your residents address is not the same as your account billing address.

The permits you may have access to include on-street parking for you as a resident, and one time use permits for your visitors. Your parking operator sets an allowance you can use per week, month, or year which our system keeps track of.

If you move property, you should contact the parking operator or the MiPermit team and provide evidence of your new address so that you can purchase new permits or transfer permits (if the parking operator allows). You cannot change your residents address yourself.

I have received a parking fine!

MiPermit is a payment system for digital permits and cashless parking, while we supply services to parking authorities we do not patrol, enforce or issue fines on their behalf.

If you have received a PCN (Parking/Penalty Charge Notice) while using our services and feel that the fine was issued in error, you should in the first instance gather evidence and submit this to the parking authority using the details on the PCN. This may be a link to their web site or an address to write to. Appeals must be made in writing at all times and submitted to the parking operator, not to MiPermit.

You should gather evidence that provides proof to the parking operator that you had paid for parking or had a valid permit to park at the time of the contravention, in which case screen shots of SMS messages, receipts or permit numbers would help you in your challenge. If you were issued a PCN for anything other than non-payment or not having a valid permit (such as parked out of bay) you should provide evidence of your own.

Parking operators who use MiPermit for payments and permits have the ability to check our systems to satisfy themselves that a reasonable attempt to pay for parking has been made to be able to respond to your challenge. If the parking operator cannot find such evidence they will contact MiPermit for further investigation.

MiPermit are not part of the decision making process on PCN's issued and if they should be cancelled or not, however we are happy to provide you with factual evidence should you require it.

Managing your Residents Permits

Residents Permits (and visitor permits) are bound to your residents address. If you do not reside at the address you require permits for please talk to your parking operator. With digital residents permits you do not need to display anything in the vehicle, as the patrolling officers are able to check the vehicle registration number for a valid permit.

To manage your residents permits you should login to the MiPermit global portal or your parking operators portal and go to 'Manage Digital Permits' selecting the Residents Permits option. You can change vehicle registration the permit covers (if the parking operator allow) and renew any permits due to expire.

Changing the Vehicle Covered by your Residents Permit

Select the permit you wish to change, and click the 'Edit Registrations' button. You can enter the new vehicles registration number and save the details making the changes effective immediately. Note that you should only enter one vehicle registration number per field, adding multiple registration numbers may result in a PCN being issued by the parking operator.

If you edit the vehicle registration number on a permit you must ensure that the old vehicle is not parked in an area where it may receive a PCN for not being covered by a valid permit. Changes made in the MiPermit portal are immediate and cannot be scheduled in advance.

Note: Changing or editing your vehicles in the 'Members & Vehicles' section of the portal only effects Pay & Stay vehicles, and does not change the vehicle covered by a permit.

Renewing your Residents Permits

If a permit is due for renewal will we flag this in the MiPermit portal. If your account has an email address attached to it, we will also send out a reminder email a few weeks before the permit will expire.

To renew your permit, login to the MiPermit global portal or parking operators portal and click on the renewal banner or the notification badge in the menu. You will be shown a list of permits that can be renewed, just select the permit and click the 'Renew Permit' button. This will auto-complete the permit purchase page with all the details required plus give you the ability to make amendments. You will need to enter payment card details to complete the renewal.

Managing your Visitor Permits

With digital visitor permits you do not need to display anything in the vehicle, as the patrolling officers are able to check the vehicle registration number for a valid permit.

You can purchase 'books' of visitor permits on a pro-rata basis. You will have an allocation of permits that you can purchase per year and you can purchase your permits online up to your limit over the course of the year and use them immediately. You do not need to wait for a book of permits to arrive in the post or collect them from your parking operators offices.

To purchase visitor permits, you should go to the MiPermit global portal or your parking operators portal and from the 'Buy Digital Permits' option follow the process through to purchasing. You will need to provide payment card details to complete the transaction.
