Your current stays are shown in the Current section. This shows you the vehicle, location, time start and end, amount paid and a countdown timer. Selecting the current stay will centre the map on the location parked in.
You can extend your stay (if the location allows) without returning to your vehicle by tapping the 'Extend' button shown below the stay details. If your stay hasn't started yet (where you have pre-booked your parking ahead of arrival) you can also cancel the pending stay and will not be charged for it.
You can create a new stay by tapping on a location marker or from one of the location lists.

Change Payment Details for Pay & Stay
You can change your payment card details via a MiPermit portal or via the iOS or Android apps.
Login to a MiPermit portal and select the 'Billing Details' option. In the 'Secure Payment Details' section, you can opt to remove your payment method or edit the payment method. Editing the details will ask you for your card details and to select which merchants to authorise your card for use with (more information on this is available on screen at the time of choosing).
Please note that we do not store your card details. The details you enter are sent directly to our payment provider and we are given an encrypted authorisation code which we can then use to take future payments.
Costs of Pay & Stay Parking with MiPermit
Payment cards & convenience fees (charges)
A convenience fee may be added to the cost of your parking depending on the car park operator and the location you're parking in. Some locations do not charge a fee, however others do.
If a convenience fee is applicable, this should be highlighted on the MiPermit stickers on the Pay & Display machines, or on the tariff board.
When paying to park via one of our smartphone apps or online portals, the convenience fee is itemised on the payment screen before you finalise the payment.
Important Note When adding a payment card to use with MiPermit Pay & Stay parking we have to check that the card details are valid and a 'repeat payment reference' can be generated so that you do not have to enter your payment card details every time you use the system to park.
When performing the card test, a 10 pence (10p) deferred payment is requested and cancelled and this normally doesn't show on your bank account, however, some banks now show these 10 pence defer tests as 'pending transactions' within their banking apps. If you see this on your banking app, please be aware that the defer is cancelled and no money is taken but it may take a couple of days for your bank to remove it from your pending transactions list.
If you have any questions regarding the card tests, please get in touch with the MiPermit Team for further details.
SMS (text message) costs
To send a text to pay for parking costs no more than your networks standard message rate. This is typically around 10p per message. Sending a text to a message shortcode (61600) is not included in your mobile package. You should confirm this with your mobile provider.
We do not take payment for parking from your mobile account. We do not have the ability to take any payments in this manner.
Optional reminder texts (20 minutes before your stay ends) are charged at 10p per reminder sent and added to the total cost of parking.
Call costs to 0345 or 0333 numbers
To call our customer services team or to pay for your parking via our automated telephone system, calls are charged by your mobile provider at their standard national rate.
The cost of these calls are included in any mobile minutes package you may have.
Extending your Stay in the Android App
If extending the stay is permitted in your chosen parking location, you will see an 'Extend Stay' button, which will allow you to select the next available tariffs to increase your parking duration. Once processed, your current will update with the revised duration remaining.
If your stay has expired and you have reached the maximum stay in that location you will not be able to extend your stay. You should check the tariff board in the car park for terms and conditions before paying for a new stay to continue parking in the location.

I have received a parking fine!
MiPermit is a payment system for digital permits and cashless parking, while we supply services to parking authorities we do not patrol, enforce or issue fines on their behalf.
If you have received a PCN (Parking/Penalty Charge Notice) while using our services and feel that the fine was issued in error, you should in the first instance gather evidence and submit this to the parking authority using the details on the PCN. This may be a link to their web site or an address to write to. Appeals must be made in writing at all times and submitted to the parking operator, not to MiPermit.
You should gather evidence that provides proof to the parking operator that you had paid for parking or had a valid permit to park at the time of the contravention, in which case screen shots of SMS messages, receipts or permit numbers would help you in your challenge. If you were issued a PCN for anything other than non-payment or not having a valid permit (such as parked out of bay) you should provide evidence of your own.
Parking operators who use MiPermit for payments and permits have the ability to check our systems to satisfy themselves that a reasonable attempt to pay for parking has been made to be able to respond to your challenge. If the parking operator cannot find such evidence they will contact MiPermit for further investigation.
MiPermit are not part of the decision making process on PCN's issued and if they should be cancelled or not, however we are happy to provide you with factual evidence should you require it.
Park + Charge with MiPermit
To pay for your parking and charge your electric vehicle, the process is similar to simply paying for your parking.
Please note that the steps to charge your vehicle may differ slightly depending on the type of charger being used at the parking location, or the parking operator's requirements. The charging machine will normally give prompts on screen if needed.
Using Park + Charge.
On arrival at a Park + Charge location, the charging machine will show the parking location number, plus a "Charge Point" number. A single charger machine with only one Charge Point number will show a set of NFC/App Clip/QR Codes on the front of the machine. A dual charger machine will show the Charge Point number above the socket and the NFC/App Clip/QR Codes on the respective left and right sides of the charging machine. Please ensure you scan the correct side for the Charge Point you will plug in to.
Do you already have the MiPermit app?
If yes, then you can scan the required code (App Clip for Apple iOS devices, QR Codes for Android or Apple devices, NFC for both) to start the process. This will open the app at the location you're in and select the Charge Point number you scanned. All you have to do is select/enter your vehicle registration number, how long you wish to park and charge for, and process the payment.
You can also manually select the parking location from the app (by searching for the location number, or by using the Nearest location list), select/enter your vehicle registration number, and select the Charge Point you want to use from the list.
If you do not have the MiPermit app already installed, you can either download it from your devices app store, or scan one of the codes to start your Park + Charge session and you'll be asked if you want to download the app after the payment process.
How much does it cost to charge?
The cost per kWh will depend on a few factors such as the location you're in, the car park operator, if the parking cost is included in the charging cost, etc.
The MiPermit app will show both the parking cost and charging option. For example:
Duration 30 minutes (£0.50) + EV Charge 1 hour (£1.00) + EV Charge
The "max fee" is the maximum you will pay for the charging session. This is shown as the max fee as you may need to stop charging before the end of the parking session, and as such we will only take payment for the charging costs incurred up to being disconnected from the charger. A running "In Progress" total of how much you will pay can be seen in the MiPermit app on the "Current" screen, and you can refresh this section by pulling down and letting go.
What are the steps to charge your vehicle?
From within the MiPermit app, once you have successfully made payment, the app will contact the Charge Point. This may take a few seconds and you'll be prompted in the app to wait a little while for this connection to happen.
In most cases, you should plug your cable in to the charger when you get the "Connecting to Charger" notification. Plugging in before this may cause the charger to think it is now in use and not be able to process your payment.
Once the connection is made and you have plugged in your vehicle, it may take a few seconds for the Charge Point to tell the MiPermit app that it is ready to charge. When it does, you will see in app that the charging process has started. This can also be confirmed on screen in the app, in your vehicle, and depending on the charger model on screen there as well.
When will charging stop?
Your vehicle charging will stop when the Park + Charge sessions ends.
If you need to leave earlier than the end of your session, you can stop the charging and unlock the cable using your vehicle's standard way (such as in the vehicle's companion app, in-vehicle charging screen, or remote key fob).
When your Park + Charge ends you should vacate the bay like any other parking location.
Getting help with your charging.
If you need assistance with Park + Charge, our customer services team are more than happy to help by calling 0345 520 7007. When calling, please have the location number you're in, the charge point number and your vehicle registration number ready as you will be asked for this information.
Please note that you cannot Park + Charge via the SMS or Telephone service. Park + Charge will be coming to the web portals soon!
Parking using SMS/Text Message
Using cashless parking for the first time
Send an SMS to 61600 with the word PARK and your vehicle registration number.
For example:
PARK T123EST
Our automated system will call you back for the following information.
Car park location number
Your payment card details
Asked if you wish to receive an SMS reminder 20 minutes before the stay expires
If at anytime you have difficulty with the process, stay on the phone or press the star key and you will be transferred to one of the MiPermit team that will help you through the remainder of the process.
Once registered, you will be sent a temporary PIN to use with your account. When you first login you will be asked to enter a secure password. The password is only used for logging in to a MiPermit portal or smartphone apps.
Please note that SMS costs to 61600 may vary depending on your network provider. Please contact your provider for more information.
Existing customers that have already registered
On arrival at a participating car park, send an SMS (text message, not an MMS or email) to 61600 the keyword PARK plus the location number and duration in hours or minutes.
For example:
PARK 702233 30mins PARK 702233 2hrs PARK 702233 1day
If you want to park for part-hours, and the location supports part-hours, you should state the duration in minutes.
For example, for the duration of one and a half hours:
PARK 702233 90mins
If you want to add a new vehicle to your account, or have more than one vehicle on your account already, you can state which vehicle to use by adding the registration number to the end of the SMS.
For example:
PARK 702233 30mins T123EST PARK 702233 2hrs T123EST
Please note that once you have more than one vehicle on your account, you will need to add the registration number of the vehicle you are using to all future messages so the system knows which vehicle you are using. If you do not, the system will take the last vehicle added to your account as default.
To extend your stay by SMS
If you need to extend your stay, you can do so by SMS or by logging in to a MiPermit portal or using the MiPermit app. To extend, send an SMS to 61600 with the word EXTEND
For example:
EXTEND 30mins EXTEND 1hour
You will not be able to extend a stay past the locations opening hours, or if the location has a maximum stay limit.

Ways to Pay for Your Parking
We have a few different ways you can pay when using MiPermit. Here's a list and links to more in depth articles for each to help you decide which is best for you.
Smartphone Apps (iOS and Android devices)
This is the easiest and most convenient way to pay for your parking. We have iOS and Android apps that allow you to manage your vehicles, pay for parking as well as keep your digital permits up to date. You view locations around you on a map and list of locations nearest by distance (with location services turned on) as well as mark locations you park in daily as favourites.
For more information on how to use our Smartphone apps, see of Apple iOS (iPhone, iPad) articles, or Android (Samsung, Google, OnePlus, etc) articles.
We also support Apple App Clips, QR Codes and NFC (Near Field Communication) where the location advertises the feature.
This enables you to simply scan or tap a location sign, Pay & Display machine sticker, or tariff board and be presented with entering a vehicle registration number, choose how long you want to park, and pay using Apple Pay or by entering your card details. If you already have an account, and have the app installed, it'll load the app on the Pay to Park screen with the location already selected, just select your vehicle and duration, and pay!
Look out for these features in locations you use!
Our smartphone apps rely on you having an internet connection, so in some areas this may not work as quickly depending on coverage. Scanning or tapping NFC is dependent on your devices abilities and operating system version installed.
SMS (Text Message from Your Mobile Phone)
You can send an SMS message to our shortcode (61600) to pay for your parking. You can add new vehicles by adding the vehicle registration number to the end of your SMS which means you don't need to set up your vehicles online or via the Smartphone app before using them.
SMS relies on having a mobile phone connection but doesn't need a data connection to the internet so can be used anywhere that you have a signal. Sending an SMS to 61600 is charged at your standard message rate by your mobile network provider. You cannot pay for your parking through your mobile telephone's subscription.
For more information on registering and using SMS to pay for your parking, see our Parking Using SMS/Text Message articles.
MiPermit Web Portals
You can use your desktop or mobile browser to access any MiPermit Portals, or the Global MiPermit Portal to pay for your parking at any time. From here you can administer members logins (such as other family members), multiple vehicles and keep track of your digital permits at any time.
Accessing the MiPermit web portals requires an internet connection.
Telephone (Automated Telephone Service)
We also support paying for your parking by telephone (by calling 0345 505 1155). More information on how to use this service can be found in our Pay & Stay Parking by Telephone article.
Calls to 03 numbers cost no more than a national rate call to an 01 or 02 number and must count towards any inclusive minutes in the same way as 01 and 02 calls. For more information please see this OFCOM article.
Need Help? Call us on 0345 520 7007
If you need help with paying for your parking, you can call our customer services helpline (during advertised hours) and we'll be happy to help with whatever issue you are having.
