Applying for Refunds

Pay & Stay Refunds

Refunds can only be given with proof of duplicate payments were made on the same day or an error occurred which caused an overpayment to be made. If you purchase parking and find you did not need the total time purchased, a refund cannot be given without the express permission of the parking operator.

Refunds are made back to the same card the payment was taken from. We cannot issue cheques or refund payments to another account as per Money Laundering laws within the UK.

In all cases, you should get in contact to the parking operator or the MiPermit customer services team and give as much information as possible so your request can be dealt with promptly.

Residents & Visitor, Season Tickets, Waiver Permits Refunds

Refunds for these permits are at the discretion of the parking operator or council. You should request your refund via your parking operator, council or the MiPermit customer services team.

It may be that a pro-rata refund may be given, and an administration fee added for the refund to be made, but this will be dependent on the parking operator or council. Please check the terms and conditions of the permit when purchasing.

Change Payment Details for Pay & Stay

You can change your payment card details via a MiPermit portal or via the iOS or Android apps.

Login to a MiPermit portal and select the 'Billing Details' option. In the 'Secure Payment Details' section, you can opt to remove your payment method or edit the payment method. Editing the details will ask you for your card details and to select which merchants to authorise your card for use with (more information on this is available on screen at the time of choosing).

Please note that we do not store your card details. The details you enter are sent directly to our payment provider and we are given an encrypted authorisation code which we can then use to take future payments.

Changing your Billing Address

Your billing address is used for record keeping and contacting you by post if required. You can change your billing address by logging in to a MiPermit portal, go to the 'Billing Details' section, and 'Edit Billing Address'.

You can also add an email address to this section for any receipts for parking to be automatically emailed to you

Download a Receipt

If you have an account:

  • Open the MiPermit login page.
  • Enter your member number (typically your mobile phone number or landline number) and current password to login.
  • From the menu, select 'Payment History' to display a list of your receipts.

You can click on any of the receipts to download a PDF, or download a payment summary by using the date pickers.

By adding an email address to your account details we will automatically send the receipt the day after your parking expires.

If you do not have an account and used the 'casual' parking feature to pay for parking, you should add an email address at the time of paying to receive a receipt.

How to reset your password

If you have forgotten your password to login to your account you can:

  • Open the MiPermit login page and go to the 'Forgotten Password' page.
  • Enter your member number (typically your mobile phone number or landline number) or email address that is on your account.

We'll send a temporary PIN to your registered mobile phone by SMS, or to your registered email address. You can use the PIN to login and change your password to a new one.

I have received a parking fine!

MiPermit is a payment system for digital permits and cashless parking, while we supply services to parking authorities we do not patrol, enforce or issue fines on their behalf.

If you have received a PCN (Parking/Penalty Charge Notice) while using our services and feel that the fine was issued in error, you should in the first instance gather evidence and submit this to the parking authority using the details on the PCN. This may be a link to their web site or an address to write to. Appeals must be made in writing at all times and submitted to the parking operator, not to MiPermit.

You should gather evidence that provides proof to the parking operator that you had paid for parking or had a valid permit to park at the time of the contravention, in which case screen shots of SMS messages, receipts or permit numbers would help you in your challenge. If you were issued a PCN for anything other than non-payment or not having a valid permit (such as parked out of bay) you should provide evidence of your own.

Parking operators who use MiPermit for payments and permits have the ability to check our systems to satisfy themselves that a reasonable attempt to pay for parking has been made to be able to respond to your challenge. If the parking operator cannot find such evidence they will contact MiPermit for further investigation.

MiPermit are not part of the decision making process on PCN's issued and if they should be cancelled or not, however we are happy to provide you with factual evidence should you require it.

Ways to Pay for Your Parking

We have a few different ways you can pay when using MiPermit. Here's a list and links to more in depth articles for each to help you decide which is best for you.

Smartphone Apps (iOS and Android devices)

This is the easiest and most convenient way to pay for your parking. We have iOS and Android apps that allow you to manage your vehicles, pay for parking as well as keep your digital permits up to date. You view locations around you on a map and list of locations nearest by distance (with location services turned on) as well as mark locations you park in daily as favourites.

For more information on how to use our Smartphone apps, see of Apple iOS (iPhone, iPad) articles, or Android (Samsung, Google, OnePlus, etc) articles.

We also support Apple App Clips, QR Codes and NFC (Near Field Communication) where the location advertises the feature.

This enables you to simply scan or tap a location sign, Pay & Display machine sticker, or tariff board and be presented with entering a vehicle registration number, choose how long you want to park, and pay using Apple Pay or by entering your card details. If you already have an account, and have the app installed, it'll load the app on the Pay to Park screen with the location already selected, just select your vehicle and duration, and pay!

Look out for these features in locations you use!

Our smartphone apps rely on you having an internet connection, so in some areas this may not work as quickly depending on coverage. Scanning or tapping NFC is dependent on your devices abilities and operating system version installed.

SMS (Text Message from Your Mobile Phone)

You can send an SMS message to our shortcode (61600) to pay for your parking. You can add new vehicles by adding the vehicle registration number to the end of your SMS which means you don't need to set up your vehicles online or via the Smartphone app before using them.

SMS relies on having a mobile phone connection but doesn't need a data connection to the internet so can be used anywhere that you have a signal. Sending an SMS to 61600 is charged at your standard message rate by your mobile network provider. You cannot pay for your parking through your mobile telephone's subscription.

For more information on registering and using SMS to pay for your parking, see our Parking Using SMS/Text Message articles.

MiPermit Web Portals

You can use your desktop or mobile browser to access any MiPermit Portals, or the Global MiPermit Portal to pay for your parking at any time. From here you can administer members logins (such as other family members), multiple vehicles and keep track of your digital permits at any time.

Accessing the MiPermit web portals requires an internet connection.

Telephone (Automated Telephone Service)

We also support paying for your parking by telephone (by calling 0345 505 1155). More information on how to use this service can be found in our Pay & Stay Parking by Telephone article.

Calls to 03 numbers cost no more than a national rate call to an 01 or 02 number and must count towards any inclusive minutes in the same way as 01 and 02 calls. For more information please see this OFCOM article.

Need Help? Call us on 0345 520 7007

If you need help with paying for your parking, you can call our customer services helpline (during advertised hours) and we'll be happy to help with whatever issue you are having.
